Drake survived an early knockout punch from Iowa State then rallied late for a 66-63 win in Ames. Craig Stanley’s baseline three pointer with about three minutes left gave the Bulldogs their first lead of the game at 64-62 and they held on from there.

Drake coach Mark Phelps on his post game show on KRNT in Des Moines says the team didn’t get frustrated, but kept at it and really grew up. The Bulldogs trailed by 13 in the opening half and were down ten with just more than seven minutes remaining.

Lucca Staiger had a career high 24 points, including 21 in the opening half when he made his first six three point attempts. The Cyclones led nearly the entire way.

Iowa State coach Greg McDermott says the Cyclones were unable to finish the job, they played 35 minutes, but he says were unable to finish it out. Drake improves to 7-2. ISU falls to 6-2.
