Iowans with flood damaged homes may be eligible to receive nearly $25,000 to pay for emergency repairs. The Jumpstart Express initiative is designed to help homeowners bypass requirements that were delaying access to federal funds.

The new process is a takeoff on Jumpstart Iowa, an 85-million dollar housing and small business recovery program launched in September. Governor Culver says the Express process will allow homeowners to receive up to $24,999 in federal Community Development Block Grant funds for emergency repairs without having to meet previous requirements, such as lead paint abatement, that were causing delays.

In addition, the homeowners will not be required to have a buyout offer in order to get financial assistance with either a down payment on a home or with their mortgages.
