A search is underway for a gunman in southeast Iowa. The 22-year-old Ottumwa man is on the run after a shooting on the city’s east side Monday afternoon.
Authorities are searching for the suspect, Miguel Angel Gallegos Junior, on a charge of attempted murder. Police say 27-year-old Oscar Leyva of Ottumwa was shot by Gallegos about 2 P.M. Leyva was taken to a local hospital, then transferred to University Hospitals in Iowa City. His condition hasn’t been released.
