State charges have been dismissed to make room for federal charges in the case of a Clinton man who’s accused of seeking sex with a teen via the internet. Thirty-three-year-old James Young, the Clinton High School band teacher, is accused of arranging to meet who he thought was a 14-year-old girl for sex in DeWitt.

It was actually a DeWitt police officer working on the case as that department participates in a nationwide Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Young is now in federal custody, charged with attempted enticement of a minor to engage in illicit sexual activity. He is on paid leave from his job in the Clinton school system.

This is the third arrest made by the DeWitt Police Department on a regional basis working with the national task force
