After a stinging loss to South Dakota State the Iowa State Cyclones bounced back with an impressive win on the road. Craig Brackins poured in a career high 38 points and added 14 rebounds as the Cyclones beat Houston 71-67 on Sunday night.

Brackins says they’ve had some tough losses and had to come together as a team, and this is a good win to build on. Brackins says after a shaky start the Cyclones got the game at the speed they wanted. Brackins says they were rushing shots at the beginning, and huddled up and talked about it and adjusted.

Iowa State coach Greg McDermott says he was proud of the effort. McDermott says the key to the game was in the first six minutes as they couldn’t get the offense going, but the score was only 8-4 as they played good defense and were able to stop Houston in transition.

McDermott says Brackins played aggressively and picked good shots and he says when that happens you have to ride him, and they did.

The Cyclones improve to 8-4.
