The police chief of Sutherland, in northwest Iowa, will be sentenced soon after pleading guilty to a charge of third-degree theft for selling stolen hogs.

Fourty-four-year-old David Johannsen, who remains on unpaid leave, will be sentenced on February 9th. Johannsen was accused of selling hogs belonging to Liberty Products, where he worked, to an operation in Primghar from 2004 to 2006.

According to court documents, Johannsen admitted he and two co-workers divided the money – about $7,000 dollars.
