The Iowa Hawkeye women open the Big Ten Tournament in Indianapolis this evening against Minnesota. At 20-9 the Hawkeyes look as though they are headed to the NCAA Tournament.

Iowa coach Lisa Bluder says her team will be ready to go, but she says Minnesota has added motivation, as people are saying the Gophers are a bubble team that needs wins to get into the NCAA tournament.

Bluder says there is plenty of motivation for the Hawks to play well in the tournament, as for every game they win, they improve their seed in the NCAA tournament, and she says the better their seed, the better they will probably do.

Minnesota coach Pam Borton says they’ve played well under pressure, and that’s the situation tonight with a tournament big on the line.

Gopher center Ashley Ellis-Milan says Iowa is one of the better teams in the Big Ten
