Adam Harvell Police in a Des Moines suburb say D.N.A. evidence connects a man that officers shot and killed last week to three sexual assaults.

West Des Moines police shot 36-year-old Adam Harvell after he allegedly pointed a gun at officers who entered a townhouse with a search warrant on May 12th.

Harvell was living in the townhouse with his girlfriend. Investigators say D.N.A. links Harvell to three home invasions that involved sexual assaults of two women and a girl between December 28th and April 30th. Police believe Harvell was responsible for at least three other break-ins and five other assaults.

The string of home invasions led many residents in Des Moines’ western suburbs to purchases guns and home security systems.
