Authorities have released the results of a tri-state law enforcement effort over the weekend that included several agencies in northwest Iowa. The Tri-State Special Enforcement project happens once or twice a year and involves state troopers, sheriff’s officials and police officers in northwest Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the project this weekend ran from 8:30 Friday night through 3 a.m. Saturday. Law officers made 12 O.W.I. arrests, 7 narcotics arrests and handed out 17 other alcohol related citations.

In addition, dozens of motorists were cited for breaking various traffic laws such as speeding, failure to wear selt and driving with a suspended or revoked license. Around 340 motorists were issued written warnings.
