Winnebago Industries is announcing plans to close the company’s fiberglass manufacturing facility in Hampton, eliminating 40 jobs. That Hampton facility primarily manufactures fiberglass components for Winnebago’s motor home products.

Company president Bob Olson in a written statement says the majority of their fiberglass production will be moved to the company’s main Forest City campus throughout the company’s fiscal fourth quarter, ending August 29th.

Olson says the decision was a difficult but necessary one, saying it’s become necessary to decrease their manufacturing footprint to reduce overhead expenses for the company.

Winnebago’s management met with its Hampton employees and will help coordinate employee support from state, regional and local agencies in an effort to assist the estimated 40 salaried and hourly employees.

The company is scheduled to release the financial results of their third quarter next week.
