The body recovered from the Missouri River was that of a missing South Sioux City man. According to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, 31-year-old Bruce Wright was one of two passengers ejected from a boat near Salix Saturday night (June 27th).

Wright’s body was found by a boater Monday night about 11 miles downstream from where Wright initially disappeared. Wright and 33-year-old Oscar Gomez, also of South Sioux City, were ejected from the boat piloted by 32-year-old Samuel Gomez of Jackson, Nebraska. The D.N.R. reports Samuel Gomez slowed the boat suddenly.

Oscar Gomez was helped back into the boat by other boaters and was airlifted to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City. Samuel Gomez is charged with boating while intoxicated. The boating incident is still being investigated.
