Council Bluffs officials have secured a long-term contract to host two national youth baseball tournaments. Nearly 600 teams will be headed to the area in June and the tournaments will coincide with the College World Series in Omaha. It will make finding a hotel more difficult.

Council Bluffs Parks director Larry Foster says they sell as many rooms for these tournaments as the CWS. He says city will host the tournaments for the next five years. The estimated economic impact to the area is about 12 million dollars.

Foster says the two events include the K-C Sports “Road to Omaha” tournament and the Triple Crown “Slumpbuster” tournament. He says the tournament is set up to go right after the College World Series and that makes it a big national event for them to attend.
