Iowa coach Todd Lickliter decided against fouling Michigan in the waning seconds with a three point lead and DeShawn Sims made the Hawkeyes pay. Sims canned a three pointer with six seconds remaining to send the game to overtime and the Wolverines claimed an 80-78 win in Iowa City. The Hawks squandered a five point lead in the final 22 seconds.

Lickliter says the worst you can do is tie and go to overtime with a three, and he says knowing what he knows now, he would have fouled.

Sims basket came seconds after Iowa freshman Cully Payne missed on giving the Hawks a four point cushion. Payne hit one of two free throws and that left it a single possession game and Iowa decided not to foul.

Aaron Fuller had 30 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Hawkeyes who fall to 3-11 in the Big Ten and 9-18 overall.
