A suspect being held in the Clinton County jail on two murder charges may have been the victim of identity theft while he was locked up.

Twenty-three-year-old Dameon D. Tucker reported to Clinton police that the alleged identity theft may have taken place sometime between January 13 and April 11, according to a police report. Clinton Police report that someone may have used the identity of Tucker to receive $288 in improper unemployment benefits.

Tucker has been in the Clinton County Jail since January 13, when he was arrested on a probation violation unrelated to the murder charges. Tucker is awaiting trial on two counts of first-degree murder and one count of first-degree arson in the December deaths of 22-year-old Angel Herman and her two-year-old son, Cyrus Shoup, who were found dead in their Clinton apartment during a fire at that apartment.

Tucker’s trial date on the murder charges is set for November 15.
