A retired school superintendent has been named interim director of the Iowa Association of School Boards.  Veronica Stalker will serve as the association’s director through the end of the year.

Stalker most recently worked for the Waukee School District, but has held a variety of administrative positions in Iowa schools. The governing board of the Iowa Association of School Boards fired Maxine Kilcrease on March 25. She’s under fire for questionable spending practices – including allegations she raised her own salary by $150,000 three months after being hired last July. State and federal agencies have launched investigations into the taxpayer-supported association.

Stalker was chosen from a field of four finalists and will be paid just over $131,000 in salary, plus an additional $11,646 in lieu of health insurance.
