Kidnapped Cedar Rapids convenience store clerk Amanda Daniel has been found alive.

Police in Cedar Rapids says a convenience store clerk who was kidnapped around 4:20 this morning has been found alive. Sergeant Cristy Hamblin says 19-year-old Amanda Daniel was escorted out of the store early this morning by a man.

She says Daniel was found by police  before 11 A.M. She says officers were canvassing neighborhoods and found Daniel in an apartment building.

Hamblin says Daniel appears to be in good shape, as she had some minor injuries, bumps and bruises, but was alive and talking with officers. The suspect was also found and taken to a local hospital with injuries, but Hamblin says she doesn’t know all the details.

Hamblin says Daniel was found in the apartment not far from the convenience store on the southwest side of the city. Hamblin says it’s only about five blocks away, and says it will be interesting to find out how the officers found the woman. “But it was obviously a great stroke of luck for us and for Amanda as well,” Hamblin says.

Hamblin says they will release more details after getting the information from the officers involved.
