The Wright County man accused in last month’s death of a 19-year-old friend has entered a plea of not guilty. Twenty-year-old Lucas Faulkner of Eagle Grove is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Devin Resh of Webster City by hitting him over the head with a hatchet.

Faulkner was scheduled to appear in Wright County District Court in Clarion but entered a written plea to the charges Tuesday. The incident happened last month while they were fishing at a gravel pit northwest of Eagle Grove. Two other individuals, 17-year-old Tanner Douglas Jewsbury and 19-year-old Anthony Austen Simpson, are facing charges of accessory after the fact following the incident.
