A report says more than a half-million new jobs will be created in Iowa by 2018. The report from Georgetown University’s Center on Education and the Workforce says 62-percent of all jobs will require at least some post-secondary education. Center director Anthony Carnevale says employers will look for job seekers with some college education.
“Nowadays, industry matters less and occupation matters a lot more and that’s a powerful conclusion for policy,” Carnevale says. “The imagery we all carry is that you went to work in an industry and worked your way up, doesn’t work that way anymore.” The report says the fastest growing industries in the state will be education, sales, production and transportation.
