The state has reached a settlement on the final claim for the Iowa Lottery’s TouchPlay machines. The TouchPlay machines were placed in convenience stores and other businesses across the state and generated some $30-million in income before the Iowa Legislature shut them down in May of 2006.

The action by the legislature came after complaints that TouchPlay machines looked too much like slot machines. The State Appeal Board approved a $150,000 settlement Tuesday of a Floyd County lawsuit brought by Red Line Vending — the final claim by vendors of the machines according to the State Attorney General.

The A-G’s office says the state paid out a total of $18.4-million to settle all the lawsuits brought by dozens of vendors after the machines were banned.
