A Drake University student is charged with third-degree felony sex abuse for allegedly abusing a fraternity brother. Twenty-one-year-old Anthony Bertolone is a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity at Drake.
Des Moines Police Sergeant Lori Lavorato says the male victim, a friend of Bertolone’s, found pictures and video of himself being sexually abused. “The victim came forward after finding video, which contained himself, on the suspect’s computer,” Lavorato said. “He recorded it on his cell phone and brought that to (police).”
Police searched Bertolone’s room in the frat house on Tuesday and confiscated a computer. Bertolone was arrested on Wednesday. The victim told officers he had no recollection of Bertolone performing the sex acts on him.
“The victim claims he was drugged. In the video, he is incoherent…very, very obviously,” Lavorato said. While the victim said he was unaware of the abuse, police believe the assaults occured multiple times dating back to last October.
