A national polling firm has released two surveys this week, showing the two, top-of-the-ticket Republican candidates in Iowa have double-digit leads over their Democratic competitors.
Last Thursday, August 5, Rasmussen Reports conducted a poll on the Iowa governor’s race and a poll on the U.S. senate race. One poll found former Governor Terry Branstad, a Republican, leading the current governor, Democrat Chet Culver, by 16 percentage points. The other pollfound current U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley, a Republican, leading Democratic challenger Roxanne Conlin by 20 points.
Both Republicans had deeper support within their own Republican Party than Culver or Conlin had within their own Democratic Party.
The polls also found Iowans feel a bit better about the economy than the nation as a whole. Just over half of the five-hundred Iowans who were surveyed “gave their personal finances good or excellent marks.”
The polls Rasmussen conducted in Iowa have a margin of error of plus or minus four-and-a-half percent.
