The American Popcorn Company says it will build a second plant to make microwave popcorn near the current plant in Sioux City. Sioux City Economic Development Director Marty Dougherty says he’ll ask the city council for the okay to go after state funding.
He says Monday they will ask the council to approve an application for various state tax credits and assistance. Dougherty says they will also need some other help. Dougherty says they will also as for permission to use a tax abatement program for industrial expansion, and they are also working to end a water line.
The investment in the new plant is expected to total six million dollars and ultimately create 17 new jobs.
