A Bettendorf man is being held in the Scott County Jail and might need a calculator to add up all the charges filed against him after he tried to run from police. It started late Monday afternoon when Bettendorf Police were called to handle a domestic assault in progress at a house on Willow Drive.

It resulted in minor injuries to a woman and child. On arrival, police say they found 31-year old Mitchell Dewayne Bea in the parking lot, attempting to flee the scene. In doing so he struck two patrol cars, two trees and a light post. Then, on Tech Drive, he hit a fire hydrant.

Police say Bea then fled on foot but was soon caught. Bea is charged with:assault on a police officer; child endangerment; criminal mischief, 4th Degree; domestic assault with injury; interference with official acts; three counts of leaving the scene of an accident; possession of a controlled substance and reckless driving.
