A bizarre chain of events has landed a Davenport man in the hospital. Police say the 27-year-old man sustained a substantial head injury after jumping out of the back of a moving ambulance about 4:30 Monday afternoon.

The man, whose name has not been released, was being transported from one hospital to another for evaluation. After that incident, he was taken back to the first hospital for treatment and was admitted there.

Police say the injuries did not appear to be life threatening. Earlier Monday, the same man jumped off of the I-74 Bridge in Bettendorf into the Mississippi River. He survived the jump and rescuers found him walking on a wing dam in the river.

But they had to subdue him with a taser after he refused to get into a rescue boat.
