A Waterloo man has been sentenced to over eight years in prison for allegedly stealing guns from his aunt and uncle. Nineteen-year-old Irwin Wade pleaded guilty earlier this year to one charge of possession of stolen firearms. In December of last year, when Wade was 18, he and Corey Cart are accused of stealing 26 firearms from the Waterloo home of Wade’s aunt and uncle.
The two broke into the home to take the guns as well as a t-v, computer and a ring. Five of those guns were recovered the same day when Wade was arrested by Waterloo police. Three other guns were allegedly used in crimes in Waterloo, and five others were used in crimes in Chicago.
Thirteen of the weapons are still unaccounted for. Wade was sentenced to 97 months in prison. The 21-year-old Carter had pleaded guilty to two gun charges and a drug offense and will be sentenced at a later date.
