They call it automated traffic control, but it means more speed and red light cameras are coming to Iowa. Des Moines, Davenport, Clive and Council Bluffs already have them. That’s according to  photoenforced.com.

Sioux City, Waterloo, Cedar Rapids, Dubuque and several other Iowa cities also are listed. This fall, Muscatine will join the growing number of cities with traffic control cameras that snap photos of offenders’ license plates and send tickets in the mail to vehicle owners.

 The Muscatine City Council passed the camera ordinance on a 6-to-1 vote. City officials say it’s about making streets safer, not raking in more money. Police say warning signs will be posted in advance of Muscatine’s cameras.
