Autumn officially arrived under last night’s harvest moon, but today’s weather may be more summer like, with highs around 80 and heavy rain likely. Meteorologist Frank Boksa, at the National Weather Service, says Flash Flood Watches are being posted through this evening for parts of northern and western Iowa.

He says we may see between two and three inches of rain but no widespread flooding as he thinks the soil can handle that much, unless it all comes down in 45 minutes. Iowa’s weather should be sunny and cooler tomorrow, with highs around 70, but Boksa says more showers may be on the horizon for the weekend.
