Authorities say a Harlan, Iowa, teenager died Monday, two days after drinking alcohol and becoming unresponsive. Seventeen-year-old Julio Caceres, died Monday afternoon at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, a hospital spokeswoman said.

The Iowa Department of Public Safety said in a press release that Caceres was driven to the Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan by other teens about 1 a.m. Saturday after he became unresponsive. Caceres later was transferred to the Nebraska Medical Center, where he was in the pediatric intensive care unit.

Caceres had been among several teenagers drinking alcohol inside a Harlan home, according to a preliminary investigation by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation. The division was asked to help in the case and is investigating the death.
