Drake coach Chris Creighton says he’s trying to give the Bulldogs some rest during the week. After traveling to Florida last week where the Bulldogs dropped a close game to Jacksonville they now head to North Carolina take on Campbell University. Creighton says they left last Thursday before noon for Florida and then didn’t get back until Sunday.

They left for Kansas City to fly out to Campbell and are flying commercial and have a four hour layover, so he says it takes a bit of a toll on the team. This will be Drake’s fifth road game out of the last six. Creighton says they love the league and the ability to travel to play football, they just have to make sure the travel doesn’t hurt them during the game and they can do that.

Creighton believes even with last week’s loss the Bulldogs are right in the thick of the Pioneer Football League race. He says Jacksonville is a very good team, but says it may be hard for them to win out, and his team wants to respond like champions and take care of the rest of the games.

Campbell’s football program started in 2008 and they are off to a 2-3 start to this season. He says they are older team than Drake and the game is at their place, so it will be a different kind of football game.

Drake is 3-3 overall and 2-1 in the PFL.
