A former truck driver from northeast Iowa was sentenced to just over 24 years in federal prison today for transporting a child from Iowa to Kansas with the intent of having sex with the girl. As part of a plea agreement, 28-year-old Brandin Hagen of Fredricksburg admitted that he transported a 13-year-old girl from Iowa to Bonner Springs, Kansas, and planned to have sex with the child. The incident occurred in the fall of 2009.

Chickasaw County authorities said Hagen took the girl in a semi tractor-trailer and had sexual intercourse with her in the sleeper compartment of the truck. At the time, he was charged with four counts of having sex with a minor. In April of this year, Hagen plead guilty to one count of transporting a child in interstate commerce with the intent to engage in unlawful sexual activity.

In addition to the 24 year prison term, Hagen is ordered to pay just over $4,000 in restitution to the victim to cover medical treatment.
