An Osage man is dead after being struck by a garbage truck. The Iowa State Patrol says a truck owned by Jendro Sanitation was backing up and moving south on Fifth Street near the intersection of Vine Street at about 11 o’clock Tuesday morning when it hit 76-year-old Marvin Rogers, who was walking along the roadway.
The truck was driven by 38-year-old Samuel Scott of Greene, but authorities say that the truck’s backup signal horns were working properly at the time of the accident, and the truck was not moving at an excessive rate of speed. The Iowa State Patrol continues to investigate the accident.
