The investigation of a Davenport homicide is changing hands. Scott County Attorney Mike Walton has asked the Iowa Attorney General’s Office to take over the investigation and possible prosecution in the death of a three-year-old Davenport boy.

An autopsy showed that Addison Baldwin died of blunt force trauma. He was taken to a hospital October 12th by his mother’s boyfriend, who was watching him while she was at work. The hospital called police. The Quad-City Times is reporting that Walton turned the case over to the state because there’s a relationship between the boy’s family and a Scott County Courthouse Bailiff, and Walton wants to avoid the appearance of a conflict of interest.

No arrests have been made, and the boyfriend has not been identified.
