Davenport police are investigating a fatal wreck that happened around 12:30 this morning. Cops say a 2010 Dodge Charger with Minnesota plates traveling at a high rate of speed blew a stoplight and collided with an SUV.
The Charger then crashed into a utility pole. Its driver, 21-year-old Michael C. Collier of Rock Island, was killed. A passenger, 19-year-old DeJavare L. Thorpe of Davenport, was hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the SUV, a 25-year-old Davenport woman and a 7-month-old baby riding with her, were treated at a hospital and released.
