The Iowa Medical Examiner’s office has identified human remains found October 21st in a field south of Underwood. The remains were those of Brian Thomas MacLean, who last known address was in the State of California. The Medical Examiner’s office said there were no signs of foul play, but an investigation into MacLean’s death remains on-going.

The man was believed to have been in his mid-40s. A farmer discovered the body located partially inside of a tent off of Railroad Highway, in a field just south of Magnolia Road, behind the Oriental Trading Company. It was badly decomposed and made initial attempts at identification impossible. Authorities said at the time the body was found, it wasn’t known how long it had been in the tent, because there were crops in the field.
