Authorities now say a teenager is in custody after two store clerks were gunned down in northern Iowa. Two people were shot and killed in apparent robbery attempts in the Algona and Humboldt areas Monday night and a suspect was later apprehended in the Webster City area.

Kossuth County Attorney Todd Holmes says the incidents took place at a gas station called Crossroads Cenex near U.S. 18 in Algona, and a Kum and Go Store near U.S. 169 and Iowa Highway 3 in Humboldt. No names of the victims or the suspect have been released, yet word is from Humboldt County Sheriff Dean Kruger that the suspect is a 17-year-old from the Twin Cities.

Kruger says the Algona victim is a 55-year-old female and the Humboldt victim is a 60-year-old female who was found by the next person to work the overnight shift. A news conference is being held at Algona City Hall at 1 this afternoon to provide more information.
