Iowa Conference runner-up Coe makes a second straight appearance in the division three playoffs with a visit to Wheaton College. A year ago the Kohawks upset St. Johns of Minnesota in the opening round.

Coe coach Steve Staker says a lot of the players have returned and they have confidence since it is not something that’s new to them. Staker says Wheaton features a balanced offense that averages 203 yards of rushing and 202 yards through the air. He says they have a multitude of personnel groupings and sets, but he believe they really want to run the football.

Staker says Wheaton will show numerous formations on defense as well as offense and come at you in many ways. Staker says Wheaton’s defense will try to confuse the Coe offense and they have spent a lot of hours looking at what they can expect from a defensive standpoint. He believes they have found some things they can expect to see.
