There’ll be no change of leadership in the Iowa National Guard as the state of Iowa changes leaders.

Governor-elect Terry Branstad will retain Brigadier General Tim Orr as Adjutant General of the Iowa National Guard.

Governor Culver appointed Orr to the post in the middle of 2009.

Branstad met with Orr last week and in a prepared statement released this week Branstad said he was “extremely impressed” with Orr. Orr, a central Iowa native, enlisted in the Iowa National Guard in 1978.

He was deployed to Iraq in 2006. He holds a Master’s of Science in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College. Orr oversees more than 100 units, with over 9,400 soldiers.
