A visiting nurse is charged in eastern Iowa with child endangerment in connection with one of her patients. Forty-five-year old Angela Anderson of Bettendorf also faces charges of interference with official acts.

Bettendorf Police arrested her over the weekend, and she is out of jail on bail. Anderson is accused of failing to meet the critical medical needs of a disabled 15-year-old Bettendorf child while the child’s parents were away. In their report, police say they were called to a home after a neighbor heard glass breaking. Police say Anderson would not immediately come to the door, and when she did, she appeared to be drunk.

Cops say Anderson refused a preliminary breath test but denied drinking alcohol and said she she had taken two over-the-counter medications before going to the child’s home. She said she broke a window to get inside after locking herself out of the house. Anderson has been suspended by her employer, Trinity Visiting Nurse and Homecare Association.
