Davenport Police made an arrest in a New Year’s Day murder. Nineteen-year old Darceil Burrage was taken into custody in East Moline, Illinois, Tuesday night by Davenport and East Moline investigators.

He is being held in the Rock Island County Jail pending court action. Davenport Police say they will formally arrest Burrage this morning on warrants charging him with first-degree murder, intimidation with a dangerous weapon and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Burrage is accused of firing the gun that killed Earl Nimmers the fourth of Rock Island during a party at a north Davenport motel a little after 3:30 in the morning New Year’s Day.

Cops were called to the motel on reports of shots fired. Nimmers died at the scene. Police say the investigation is continuing.
