A north-central Iowa factory is closing its doors soon with more layoffs coming this afternoon. Electrolux Home Products in Webster City is laying off 262 people at the end of the day today as the washer and dryer manufacturer prepares for its closing by the end of March.

The employees will be losing their jobs due to the closing of the laundry production line. In October, 2009 Electrolux announced plans to close Hamilton County’s largest employer and shift its production to Juarez, Mexico.

The Webster City Electrolux plant has been in business for over 70 years. There are approximately 500 people still working at the plant until the closing of the Electrolux facility scheduled for March 31st.
