The Iowa Utilities Board and the Office of Consumer Advocate are moving next Tuesday to a new state-of-the-art building near the capitol complex in Des Moines. Utilities Board spokesman, Rob Hillesland, says there will be new phone numbers along with the new address, but you will still be able to reach the I-U-B at the old numbers for awhile.

Hillesland says they hope people will be patient in the transition, but there should not be any trouble getting through to any of the new numbers. The new nine-point-eight million dollar building is expected to use 63-percent less energy according to the architect who designed it.

Hillesland says it’s highly energy efficient and they ultimately hope to have a wind turbine behind it. It will have solar panels on the rooftop, and will use a wide array of energy techniques and methods. Hillesland says they hope the building will be a model for others.

He says they envision having various groups go through the building to get some ideas on energy efficiency they can use themselves.
