Sleet and snow have been flying across much of Iowa on this holiday Monday and forecasters say another round of nasty weather is on the way later today. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for much of northern, eastern and central Iowa. Frank Boksa, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service, says road conditions will be at dicey at times through the morning, then the snow will stop, but only temporarily.
He says a low pressure system out west will push through and bring another round of precipitation this afternoon. Boksa says parts of northeast Iowa got about two inches of snow this morning and they can expect more before the sun sets behind the clouds. This afternoon, it’ll be snow north of Highway 20 while to the south, it’ll be a mixed bag of freezing drizzle, sleet and perhaps even rain, before it turns back to snow later in the day.
High temperatures across Iowa today will range from the upper 20s and low-to-mid 30s, but Boksa said big changes are on the way.
