The Quad Cities-based Deere and Company is building a new $100-million plant in India to produce small agricultural tractors. Deere spokesman Ken Golden says that plant won’t have any direct impact on the company’s operations in Iowa.

Golden says the factory in India will serve customers there, and will also export the small horsepower tractors to other countries that need them. This is one of series of investments in India that includes expanding its current facility tractor facility there. Golden says the India investments do have some overall benefit for the Iowa plants.

Golden says,”I always think about the fact, that as we become more and more globally competitive, it helps our employees all over the world to be working for a successful company.” Deere operates farm equipment plants in the Quad Cities, Dubuque, Waterloo, Ottumwa and Des Moines.
