A rapper, reality TV show star and high school dropout will evidently not be attending an eastern Iowa school in an effort to earn his diploma. Various media reports have promoted the idea that national celebrity Flavor Flav, who recently opened a restaurant in Clinton, wanted to use Clinton High School as the setting for new reality show featuring his efforts to get a high school diploma, but Clinton School officials are saying no.

Clinton School Superintendent Deb Olson says she did talk to Flav about his ideas. Olson says Flav talked about making a reality show out of his returning to school and that he wanted to address the school board about it. She says the conversation did not get into specifics.

“He’s a celebrity and so he does a lot of things for promoting himself and his business,” Olson says. “He’s very articulate and very bright but at this time and in the future, we will not have Flavor Flav at our high school. It would cause substantial disruption for our education.”

A few weeks ago, the rapper opened a fried chicken restaurant in Clinton, the first store of what he hopes to be a national chain.
