A Florida man has admitted to having sex with a 12-year-old eastern Iowa girl he met on-line. Twenty-seven-year-old Justin David Carter pled guilty in federal court in Davenport to transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal activity.
Carter admitted he traveled from Jacksonville, Florida in June of 2010 to pick up the girl he met in an on-line “chat room.” Carter was taking the girl to Florida when they stopped at a hotel in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He admitted to giving the girl alcohol and having sex with her.
Jacksonville police and F.B.I. agents were searching for the girl after she was reported missing. They found Carter in Florida and he directed agents to a park where the girl was staying in a tent.
Carter’s sentencing is set for July 8th, and he faces a mandatory minimum of 10-years in federal prison.
