Top ranked Odebolt-Arthur/Battle Creek-Ida Grove will try to complete a perfect season when the Falcons play Estherville-Lincoln Central in the 2A championship game. OA-BCIG is 25-0 and this will be the third team coach Pat Miller has led to the title game. Miller says they have been th underdog in the other games and this will be the first time they’ve entered it as the higher ranked team.

Miller says the big thing is to stay loose and to try and keep the team from getting overprepared. The Falcons were the highest scoring team in the state during the regular season and averaged just under 79 points per game. He says they have some players who spend a lot of time shooting the ball every day. Miller says it’s something they have to do because they are not very big, and have to be able to shoot the ball.

Estherville-Lincoln Central’s strength is defense. Midgettes held second ranked Roland-Story to 24 points in a semifinal round win. With one junior and four sophomores in the starting lineup the future is bright for the Midgettes and they will be out to win their first state title since 1982.

Estherville-Lincoln Central coach Brad Leonard says you never know what is going to happen with injuries and everything else, so the time is now. He says no one on the team has ever mentioned that they are young, and he says they haven’t given that as an excuse, and the team has not used it.
