The calendar says spring will arrive in less than two weeks, but winter weather is still hitting parts of Iowa with a one-two punch. Meteorologist Josh Bowstead, at the National Weather Service, says the snow that’s falling today won’t bring much accumulation, but another storm is heading toward western Iowa.

“That’ll bring much heavier precipitation to the area,” Bowstead says. “The key question though is exactly what type of precipitation that’ll be.” Western Iowa’s Monona County is under a Winter Storm Warning and he says that area will be getting cold and wet with plenty of precip.

“It looks like a lot of that will fall as a rain-snow mix during the day on Tuesday before switching over to all snow Tuesday night,” Bowstead says. There’s the chance of 2-4 inches of snow during the day tomorrow, and another two-to-four inches tomorrow night.
