One person is dead and another is in custody following a shooting in the northeast Iowa town of New Hampton. Chickasaw County Sheriff, Marty Larson, says they received a 9-1-1 call just before midnight to an address about two miles north of the New Hampton Airport where they found one person dead.
Larson says deputies responded and then called the Iowa Division of Criminal investigation to help them with the investigation. Larson they do have someone in custody. “We did arrest one person at the scene on unrelated charges,” Larson says.
The person arrested remains in the jail. Larson says the investigation is still underway, so no names were being released. He also said that the public is not in any danger.
