A shooting outside a southwest Iowa tavern last night left one man dead, another charged with murder. According to police, 41-year-old John Anthony Rodarte Junior, of Council Bluffs died at a hospital in Omaha, after he was shot once in the chest by a 9-mm handgun.

An autopsy on his body was scheduled for today in Ankeny. Taken into custody on a charge of first-degree murder, was 42-year-old Robert Keith Hashberger, also from Council Bluffs.

The incident happened at around 7:35 P.M. near the Do Rock Inn on 7th Avenue in Council Bluffs. Officials say Rodarte and Hashberger got into a verbal altercation inside the bar, which preceded the shooting.
