The funeral of an Iowa National Guard soldier killed in Afghanistan is today. Staff Sergeant James Justice of Grimes died after being wounded while on a mission to rescue the pilots of a downed helicopter on April 23rd. (story)

Justice, who was 32, was a fulltime guardmember who had been deployed only a short time before his death. He was serving with Troop A, First Squadron of the 113th Calvary at Camp Dodge.

Justice grew up in Manilla and graduated from I-K-M High School in 1997. His funeral is today at 2 p.m. at the I-K-M Manning gym. Justice will be buried at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.

Justice is survived by his wife, Amanda, and daughter, Caydence, of Grimes.
